Gustav Mahler – Symphony No. 1 “Titan”
The subscription series wouldn’t be complete without presenting one of Mahler’s symphonies. The Czech National Symphony Orchestra recorded his complete works, making it one of their most successful studio feats to date.
On this occasion you can look forward to hearing Mahler’s 1st symphony subtitled “Titan” – a deeply emotive piece which, when staged by Steven Mercurio, is guaranteed to appeal to every perceptive listener.
The first part of the concert will feature CNSO harpist Ana Brateljević performing an adaptation to Rodrigo’s famous concerto Aranjuez inspired by the eponymous palace gardens. Listeners are invited to succumb to the atmosphere of its bubbling fountains and delightful birdsong.
