The Czech National Symphony Orchestra Records with Legendary Band YES
Oct 31, 2026
The pairing of a symphony orchestra with progressive rock brings about another exciting musical collaboration. The Czech National Symphony Orchestra took part in the recording of “Ariadne,” a track by the British band YES, one of the most prominent names on the international rock scene for more than five decades.
Formed in 1968, YES has built a long and distinguished career, earning acclaim for its distinctive sound, instrumental virtuosity and compositions that push beyond the boundaries of traditional rock music. The band’s music is characterised by intricate arrangements, memorable melodic lines and the influence of classical music. Among its best-known albums are Fragile and Close to the Edge.
Ariadne appears on the album Aurora, marking another chapter in the band’s rich history. Its title draws on Greek mythology, which also inspired vocalist Jon Davison in writing the lyrics. The orchestral arrangements were written by British composer and arranger Paul K. Joyce.
For the Czech National Symphony Orchestra, taking part in the recording was a chance to combine its symphonic sound with YES’s distinctive musical language. The track presented interesting interpretative challenges and created space for mutual inspiration.
We are delighted to have contributed our orchestral sound to the finished recording and to have been part of this project. We greatly value this opportunity, and we look forward to listeners being able to enjoy the recording.
