A Musical Tribute to Chet Baker
Every year in late April, the town of Polička comes alive with a series of performances by jazz musicians, among whom certain memorable artists have emerged. The Polička Jazz Festival has become a real spectacle for jazz enthusiasts and attracts hundreds of listeners every year. Jan Hasenöhrl and The Loop Jazz Orchestra pay tribute here, through their project Let’s Remember Chet Baker, to a man who became synonymous with jazz and who will be forever revered as a true revelation of his time.
“Music comes from within, and makes its way out through playing with other musicians. I love playing, and I think it’s the only reason I’ve been put on this earth”. These are the words of Chet Baker who to this day is still considered a key figure in modern jazz both in the United States but, above all, in Europe where he would return frequently and loved to perform.
