GIUSEPPE VERDI: MESSA DA REQUIEM

The Czech National Symphony Orchestra will return, following the concert Altmark Festspiele 2026 which will bring this year's festival to a symbolic close. On Saturday, September 5, one of the most powerful works of sacred music—Giuseppe Verdi’s Messa da Requiem—will be performed in the historic setting of St. Mary’s Church (Marienkirche) in Salzwedel.

Under the musical direction of Reinhard Seehafer, the orchestra will join forces with the CNSO Mixed Choir and an international quartet of soloists to create a richly expressive ensemble, equally compelling in both the dramatic and the intimate passages of Verdi’s work.

The Final Concert of Altmark Festspiele 2026 will offer a powerful artistic experience and a fitting conclusion to a festival that has throughout the summer brought together musical traditions, outstanding artists, and distinctive concert venues.
