The first subscription concert of the 2027 season will open with Antonín Dvořák’s Slavonic Dance No. 5 in A major “Skočná”. One of the most popular pieces in the Slavonic Dances cycle, it stands out for its lively rhythm, dance-like energy and fresh melodic character inspired by Czech folk music.
This will be followed by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky’s Piano Concerto No. 1 in B-flat minor, one of the most frequently performed piano concertos of the Romantic era. The solo part will be performed by Israeli pianist Alon Kariv.
The concert will close with Antonín Dvořák’s Symphony No. 8 in G major. One of the composer’s most optimistic symphonies, it captivates with its rich melodic invention, colourful orchestration and immediate sense of joy, making it one of the most frequently performed works in the Czech symphonic repertoire.
