Hollywood stars of film music to perform their most famous works in person in Prague

The Spectacular Music of Hollywood concert in Prague will present world-famous composers of film music on a single podium, where they will conduct performances of their most famous works in person. The theme tunes to award-winning films such as Star Wars, Iron Man 2 and Il Postino, pieces from Ted Lasso, Apple TV’s most successful series, and the iconic music from the famous Assassin’s Creed video game will be performed by the Czech National Symphony Orchestra (CNSO). Accompanied by unique film projections, the concert will take place on 18 April 2024 in the Smetana Hall of the Municipal House.

View galleryThe opening concert of the third edition of Composers Summit Prague 2024 will welcome some new faces. Prominent attendees will include three-time Emmy winner John Debney, who will personally conduct the exciting music from Marvel’s Iron Man 2 and fairytale music from Disney films. Prague will also welcome a great of the video game music scene, as Danish composer Jasper Kyd presents the eerie melodies from popular video game Assassin's Creed. You can also look forward to television music, as Tom Howe presents music from hit Apple TV series Ted Lasso, on which he collaborated with successful musician Marcus Mumford from folk-rock group Mumford & Sons.
Concert guests will hear iconic melodies from the Star Wars film series, presented by Conrad Pope, John Williams’s regular orchestrator of 30 years’ standing, who during the concert will receive a CNSO lifetime achievement award for services to film music. The programme will also include music from Oscar-winning film Il Postino, conducted by orchestrator and Grammy Award winner Nan Schwartz, who collaborated on the score with major composer Luis Bacalov.
You can also look forward to Oscar-winning composer Mychael Danna, as well as tunes from the drama Raymond & Ray, presented by composer Jeff Beal.
The concert will also feature master of horror Christopher Young, Hollywood-based Czech composer Elia Cmíral, Abbey Road-based composer and conductor Chris Egan, and Paul K Joyce, composer of music for the animated serial Bob the Builder.
During the evening the OSA award for talented young composers will also be bestowed on the winner of a composition competition organised by the Society for the Protection of Copyright (OSA) and Composers Summit Prague. The winner will be decided by the Advisory Board, composed of prominent guests at the summit. Discounted accreditation for the summit can be purchased at www.composers.cz.
